3.1 ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS

3.1.1 Purpose

The Company shall identify and determine environmental aspects considering a life cycle perspective of its operations, activities and services, over which it has control or influence, and which have or can have significant impacts on safety and the environment. Furthermore, the company shall also ensure that environmental objectives and targets are established while taking into consideration such impacts.

3.1.2 Scope

This regulation shall be applied to all activities or services arising from the operation of managed ships, such as cargo handling, berthing, sailing, entering and leaving port, crew manning, etc.

3.1.3 Responsibility and authority

a) The MD has the responsibility and authority to determine the final environmental aspects that were identified and reported by the vessels and managers. He shall also ensure that aspects and impacts are reviewed annually and revised as necessary.

b) Aspects and impacts for the company and vessels are found in EMS.

c) Evaluation of Environmental Aspects shall be carried out during semi-annual Management Review and/or quarterly SMC meetings.

3.2 ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVES & TARGETS

3.2.1 Purpose

The Top Management has established and maintains documented objectives and targets for Environmental protection. The Environment policy is the driving force for this integrated management system, so the objectives and targets established are measurable and consistent with Company policies to realize its commitment towards safe operations of ships and the prevention of pollution.

3.2.2 Scope

These objectives and targets have been established to apply to each relevant function and level within the company, both ashore and onboard each managed vessel.

3.2.3 Responsibility and Authority

a) The Top Management is responsible for setting up objectives and targets for the company and integrates them into organizational decision-making.

b) Procedures shall clearly define responsibilities and roles for personnel who are involved in the process. Coordination with functions responsible for ensuring compliance with rules and regulations is consulted during the setting of objectives and targets.

3.2.4 Guidelines for setting Environmental Objectives & Targets

a) Objectives and targets shall be set to improve safety and environmental performance at all relevant levels and operations of company vessels. Objectives and targets shall also be developed to demonstrate continual improvement within the Company.

b) Consideration of the following criteria is used in the development of objectives and targets for the company:

    i) Compliance with mandatory rules

    ii) Applicable Legal & other requirements

    iii) Aspects associated with significant environmental and safety impacts.

    iv) Technological options

    v) Financial, operational and business requirements

    vi) Views of interested parties

c) These objectives and targets are described in EMS-03-03.

3.3 Life Cycle Perspective

Within the defined scope of the environmental management system, the company shall establish and maintain procedures to identify the environmental aspects of its activities and services that it can control and those that it can influence, and their associated environmental impacts, considering a life cycle perspective. Adopting a life cycle perspective can prevent environmental impacts from being unintentionally shifted elsewhere within the life cycle.
